Thank you to those of you who completed and returned your 2010 NC AAU survey.  All responses were taken into account and final decisions were made by the North Carolina Gymnastics Board of Directors.  Most changes were based on closely following the National AAU Rules & Routines as well as what we felt would best serve the gymnasts in our state.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you have regarding the updated rules below ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. There will be a district meeting at AAU State Meet at Gardner-Webb University, May 8th at 8pm.  We request that ONE representative from each registered club attend.  Other important changes that will take effect September 2010 will be discussed at this time.

 

Handbook Updates

VAULT
  • Level 2, 3 and 4 gymnasts may perform ONLY one Vault.  Coaches can verbally request the Chief Vault Judge for a repeat vault for their athlete and a repeat vault will be allowed if it is deemed necessary due to extreme or unusual circumstances.  Meet directors will need to remind coaches and judges of this new change at their meets. 
TIMED WARM-UP
  • The timed warm-up for level 4 gymnasts at a NC AAU gymnastics meet will remain at 1 minute per athlete.  All other levels will remain the same (per USAG guidelines).

MODIFIED OPTIONAL
  • Only ONE “B” level element will be required on Bars, Beam and Floor.
  • FLOOR: Special Requirement- “A” level turn on one foot
  • BEAM: Special Requirement- Split Leap or Jump (with no angle requirement) (may be performed in a series or as an isolated element).  Optional angle deductions will apply but special requirement will be fulfilled without having to achieve a specific angle requirement.
 

Rules & Policies Updates

 
AAU AGE GROUP NATIONALS
  • Gymnasts must participate in the North Carolina AAU State Meet to qualify to AAU Age Group Nationals.  No qualifying score has to be achieved at State Meet, but participation is mandatory to be eligible for Nationals.  Sizing leotards and Nationals apparel order forms will be available at State Meet only.
